930 Idle problem
I just bought a '83 930 and the idle seems funny. When it is cold outside it takes ten or fifteen minutes to come to a 800 rpm idle. Then after shutting down the engine for five or ten min. the idle is back to 2200 rpm. Ive checked the aux air regulator and it goes from open to closed in 3.5 minutes.I have looked for an aux air valve but can't find one unless it is hidden under the intake manifold. Also when the heater motor comes on the rpm kicks up about 400 rpm and when the heater motor shuts off the engine drops 400 rpm. I think it should be doing this when the air conditioning pump kicks in not when the heater comes on. any help would be greatly appreiciated. thanks

The idle could be your warn-up regulator
it's on the left, right behind the dist. your aux air valve is on the right in the rear under your fuel dist. and above the last spark plug in the back, about a 5 inch metal saucer looking object with a small tube ( mine is blue ) comming out of the front and two larger balck hoses out of the back. The thing with the heater is very strange ! I have no idea on that one. Hope this helps. Good luck. |
