mysterious noise

I have a 91, C4 with a Blaupunkt Stuttgart radio. When the radio is on I get a crackling noise through most of the speakers when the directionals are turned on, when the lights are on or when the clutch is depressed. Do I have a bad radio? Is there any supressor capacitor that has gone bad? Any thoughts - I am stumped.

It would help to know if this noise just 'mysteriously' started one day out of the blue, or if it has done it ever since you had the car. It sounds to me like the radio is on a common circuit with some other switched circuits, and those relays do not have suppresion diodes across their coils! I would strongly recommend you put the radio on a fused supply line it does NOT share with any other circuit, and if you have to add a wire for that circuit, make sure it is at least 14 gauge wire!
