mysterious lights

A couple times when parking my 84 911 with the front wheel slightly cocked, I came back to the car to find one of the headlights was on. Right side every time (I think). Went off when I straightened the wheel. I can’t seem to replicate this when I want to check it out but I am afraid that sometime in the future I will walk away without noticing and come back to a dead battery.
I assume there is an intermittent short somewhere and I hate the idea of chasing down an intermittent short. Any suggestions of where to begin looking?
Thanks
Andy

Andy, 911's have a feature found on mosr german high end cars that enables you to keep one side, either left or right, parking lights on after the car is parked. If you leave the turn signal clicked, then the corresponding side will stay on. I think they have this feature so if you were to park your car on a tight roadway with no lights you can enable this to keep motorists from smacking onto your car. I know that you mentioned it is your headlight that stays on but maybe that is a short. Try leaving your turn signal clicked and shut the car off and go check.
Maybe I am wrong...
Mike

I agree with mike, even my 73 911e does this.
Check your turn signal lights (front and rear) to see if this is the case.

Thanks, that makes sense since the reason the wheel was cocked is because I just finished a turn into a parking place and straightening the wheel would cancel the turn signal.
I’ll check it out
