AAV valve necessary for track-only EFI engine?

This question is somewhere the race/autoX and engine building forums so maybe here is better than a cross-post...

I'm just finishing up my first 911 engine build for a track-only car. Megasquirt is handling fuel...

Is an auxillary air valve necessary for an engine that will get started with an attentive mechanic and driver on-hand and an EFI system with "warm-up" fuel compensation maps working its injection? I could set the warm-up cycle on the megasquirt EFI to run rich under 190 degrees and keep the throttle partly open under cranking...

I'm striving to ditch every bit of unnecessary gear and complication so would like to hear if this works for people...

thanks

Get rid of it and use an early hand throttle. The AAV will give you the bypass air for the cold start.

I have the AAV on my EFI system, however in the process of doing some testing early on I had it eliminated. It's summer in Colorado so my AAV by default is almost entirely closed as it is, that being said I was able to change the cold enrichment values and it worked fine.
