Will this engine be an good platform for an upgrade to about 170 bhp. Or is a swap for a later / bigger motor a better solution?

This engine will have a non-counterbalanced crank. Some people don't like it, others do. The heads don't have great porting.

It would be much cheaper to swap it for a 3-litre engine, which has the power you want and better torque, than to build this to 170 hp.

What about the `69 gearbox, will 3.0 engine fit and can it handle the 204 bhp ?
