Firing order question-I'm confused

While working on my 86 3.2 Targa, I became confused as to the firing order. The decal shows 4-5-6 on the RIGHT as you look at the motor from behind and 1-2-3 on the LEFT. Is this decal upside down? It shows the pully on the inside, towards the front, not the rear. I checked the dizzy ends for any loose connections today, and now the car turns over, but doesnt start. Thanks for any help.

Strupgolf,

You are correct about the placement of the cylinders: 1 2 3 on the left, 4 5 6 on the right, as shown here:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_valve_adjust/911_valve_adjust_pic1.jpg

Note: the pulley is toward the rear, and the flywheel is in the front - you must be confusing the flywheel with the pulley.

Firing Order is 1-6-2-4-3-5, and remember that 911SC has the distributor rotating counterclockwise. To be sure, just put the car in 5th gear, hand brake off, go to the back of the car, and watch which direction the rotor turns when you push the car forward.

Now double check where you have the plug wires on the distributor cap.

The "pulley" that you're seeing on the decal is a representation of the flywheel, not the fan.

Thanks for the info. I'll go out and check again. Now another question. On the dizzy cap, is # 6 the first wire to the right of the bottom hold down screw. I'm thinking that I'm getting too complex on a simple problem.

The car started again. I guess I was one post off. Hey, it still 'pops' upon startup, but the car goes in to the shop to see where and what could cause it. Thanks to all.
