trouble getting car to idle

Engine is a 69 911e, been rebuilt a while ago. Just changed the oil/filter (oem stuff), wires, rotor, cap (all from here), and plugs (cheaper denso i think). Ive adjusting my timing with a timing gun but the car still has trouble idling. Once your above 2k rpm it runs great though. Ive tried adjusting the 2 screws near the front (one on each bank) which im 99.9% sure are idle screws but that just makes the car rev strangely (like if you rev it up, it more slowly goes back down). Why do you think its having trouble idling?
