OK I can poke Jay for some more pics tonight, but I can tell a bit more here. The Orange POS (short for Porsche) progressed a bit slower than Jay had hoped. Getting the contour on the fenders right withouht seeing any of the weld creases took a bit of work and some patience. I think we ending up spraying about 3 coats of primer on them each time blocking 90% of it back off. It was well worth it as the finished products seems to show.
Jay finally got the front bumper and rear decklid back from being stripped and e-coated in mid July as well. I have to say that is the way to go. The panel look like they came straight from Porsche.....aside from the pre existing dings in them. All you have to do to prep them for paint is grind down where the low spots are, metal work and mud. I think we only had about 6 total hours into the rear decklid and front bumper. They turned out really nice. The other thing that took time were the rockers. Porsche lead filled the originals to match the body. So we had to mud those in and get all the new welds blended back in. 90% of it is in the jambs or under a seal, but it didn't get left looking like hell. Over all things progressed along through June and July, but just not as Jay had hoped. The Yellow POS on the other hand just kept going further and further backwards. The more I worked on Jays car the more I just wanted to make mine right. So each week I picked another panel to block back out, reprime and reblock. Great fun on an freshly painted car right? OK Jay more pics go here | V

So, June came and went, and suddenly July was on us. As of July 12, 2006 here is how things sat.
Here I am in Koeln, Germany..... ![]() Meanwhile, back in Burlington, WI USA, here is my Orange POS.... ![]() Dont see much difference between July 12 and June 3??? Don't worry, neither did I ![]() The only good news was that, despite the apparent lack of progress, the body work was coming along very well, and the car seemed as though it might actually look respectable............Which was more than could be said about Kevin's. About this time the lesson of spending time on the body work was starting to settle into Kevin's brain, and he realized that the doors of his car looked more like the less respectable end of a horse than beautifully painted doors...... Kevin was nice enough not to blame those doors on my not helping....so I returned the favor by reminding him that they looked pathetic on a nearly daily basis ![]() So, after a great deal of peer pressure, Kevin finally conceeded that the doors needed more body work; and so, they were blocked, a little mud added, and blocked again. The doors were good now, so I did what any friend of more than 20 years would do.......I moved on to criticizing his hood ![]() So, Kevin ground down the hood to metal beat the back side with a hammer mercelessly, and laid down more mud.....(I was nice enough to finish it the hood out for him). So, now the doors and hood of the car that was once done were now undone! Well, if the hood and doors need to be painted, may as well block out and re-prime the front fenders as well....I mean why mask them off? It is just not worth it! Finally, a combination of constant pressure, logic ("You do not have enough paint left to do the doors, hood and fenders"), and good old threats ("I am just going to do it myself if you don't!"), got Kevin to finally break down and block out the rear fenders of his car..........again. So, here we are.....July 28, 2006......not even 10 miles on the road since the last repaint...... ![]() This is clearly NOT what we had in mind. The idea was for both cars to be DONE by this time, not one car stuck and the other going backwards! This was the state of the two cars...... ![]() Not a pretty sight...... Clearly, there was only one suitable course of action........ To hell with sleep, to hell with work, to hell with the wives! It is time to kick some serious tail on these cars!!!!!!

Ben that is next summers project.......which we will need your help with again. Muahhhahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not sure if you can tell from the pictures above, but we made some good progress. All we had left were Jay's doors, front fenders, hood, bumper, and all the seams. Wait......we had a lot left. On top of all that some idiot talked me into repainting my whole car! Damn the torpedos and full speed ahead!!!! My wife was going out of town for 4 days so that gave us 4 days to get a lot of poop done. So for 4 days straight we worked like beavers. Dust was flying, primer was spaying, mud was spreading, and there was some color starting to show. Heck, we even painted part of Jay's car outside. He has a picture of that somewhere.......I am sure the EPA will come looking for us if they get ahold of it. Here is a peak of what is coming. Jay should have some pics from where he left off above and to this point. However, this is the best I can do. So, I am not sure if we were high on fumes, tired, hungry, or all of the above, but this picture looked like heaven to us. (It was really just the loft on my barn) ![]()

OMG I still laugh when I see that picture of us painting outside!!!!!!! There were yellow parts drying inside we didn't want orange on. So we were out of space.
As for that picture of the barn I love that picture too. I may have it framed. It is almost unreal. Well I have had enough of this screwing around. Everyone has patiently waited so I will finally offer up some good P-car porn. Here is Y-POS (short for Yellow Porsche) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I suppose I can add some P-car porn as well. There is still a lot of work to do to finish even the outside, but here is how it sits right now...
![]() ![]() ![]() Looks like our story is up to date..... I'm going to miss you all ![]()

Man that thing needs to get lowered in the front!
Sorry Jay I couldn't resist. Anyway, both cars are basically back in one piece now aside from a few details. Part 2 of this saga will begin shortly. Something needs to motivate these cars a little better than a 2.2T motor. Thanks to: My wife for not killing me. Jay for all his help. Ben for his advice. Wayne at PP for this wealth of information we all use and a very good retail source for Porsche parts. John Walker for helping get my tranny back together. The Rgrouppe and groupB guys for inspiration. TO BE CONTINUED..........

In the cats defense it only weights about 3 OZs. That cat is 99% fur. I am convinced if you shaved it you would find a hamster.
