Here are a couple of teasers. Please excuse the mess, once I make the final grounds, leak test the fuel system and finish off the vacuum manifold I will go back and do clean up. It can be a bit overwhelming when you have so many different things going on at one time under the hood, so I have been breaking it up into a bunch of little projects and finishing them one at a time.

Kevin is apparently taking after Ben and jumping the route a bit.
There is some interesting stuff between the cars getting painted and Kevin finding yet another excuse to have his car off the road.....I mean between the cars getting painted and Kevin building his injection system.....

So, where did we actually leave off.....Oh yes Autumn 2006. Weeks of rain, an Orange 911 that looked like its front end was on stilts, and that desperately needed wider wheels
![]() See what I mean ![]() Actually I picked up a set of 8" Fuchs but of course they were anodized and needed re-finishing to match my polished 7" fronts. Man that is a lot of work!! ![]() ![]() ![]() So, armed with my newly polished and painted 8" Wheels, I set about lowering the front. ![]() See what I mean? The car looks "excited," like a dog jumping up to greet you!! Anyway, I pull it in the garage, and begin unbolting the front torsion bars. The metal seemed to be flexing a bit much while breaking the bolts loose. Probably because the METAL WAS GONE!!!! All that was left in spots was the factory rubberized undercoating!!! From what I could determine, the passenger side battery must have burst at some point and the battery acid rotted the sheet metal from the inside out. The suspension "looked" perfect, but a few well placed pokes with a screw driver revealed the truth. The front suspension pan was dangerously gone. I was furious!!! So much so that I actually have no pictures (Kevin might?), I simply went in the house and essentially forgot about the car till Spring 2007. Still utterly pissed off at it, I chose to have a friend of mine weld a new pan in rather than swear at it myself. Here is a pic of the car getting dropped of, it was too dangerous to drive.... ![]() Meanwhile, if memory serves right about the time of this pic Kevin was desperately fighting to keep his 911 from becoming a casualty of divorce.....

So, after some time, money and more parts from Pelican, my car was finally whole again and ready for corner balancing. It also needed its points set and the carbs tuned up.....both of which I was in no mood for.....
Meanwhile, through financial wizardry and shrewd planning, Kevin managed to find a way to keep his 911 from being a casualty of divorce (it probably had mostly to do with him giving up just about everything else....at least his priorities were strait!! ![]() So both cars headed to...what does Kevin call him?? Ah yes, the "Zenith Whisperer." A couple thousand bones later and both cars were liberated. I drove mine home quite happily. Then after several days of listening to Kevin complain "I don't have time to go get my car...." I finally gave in and drove his home as well ![]() Still after a couple days of beating it senseless Kevin finally decided that he would try advancing the timing to where it was and ..... voila!! The car ran like a champ...not well enough for Kevin mind you, but more than good enough for most early 911 owners! Ran smooth, revved up to 7k with no issues, idled....what's not to like? So it's early June '07 now. Kevin has a new house, my wife decides that we need a new house too. All projects on the 911s are put on hold as house improvements and repairs take priority. Still, all is not lost, the pair of 911s actually made some trips together that summer (which, shockingly, meant I was able to get photographic evidence of Kevin driving his car!!! He will probably claim he was "driving it" but not "enjoying it" or some other BS story.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Carefull observers will notice I still have the original rear bumpers ![]() ![]() Gratuitous dashboard shot (taken on a closed course, by a professional driver....of course ![]()

You can't prove that was me. No way, doesn't even look like me. My car never ran, nope not gonna believe it.
I actually forgot we had photo evidence of my car on the road. I need to get it running again.

PCA Concours at Road America 2007.... ![]() ![]() ![]() PCA Concours at the Milwaukee Masterpiece 2007..... (not even flooding at the lakefront from days of rain before could stop us!!) ![]() ![]() ![]() (Gratuitous shot of my Dad's 928 at that same show. He drives it about as much as Kevin drives his 911....maybe whatever disease my father has somehow was transferred to Kevin, hmmmmm.....) Eventually the Summer of 2007 came to a close. Kevin was settled into his new house, Julie and I were between homes. Two things were clear: 1. Kevin loved the looks and sounds of his carbs, but was not impressed with the drivability.....something had to be done! 2. I loved the way the looks and the sounds of my carbs, and was fine with how the car drove. However my rear bumpers were wearing on my nerves.....something had to be done! ![]() See what I mean...... Well, with no heated garage addressing either of these would have to wait for 2008. Besides, by winter I had a new house to distract me, and Kevin owed me more than a little bit of home renovation time ![]() ![]() Here he is trying to persuade me to keep my metal upper cabinets! No doubt so that he could get out of tearing them out..... ![]()
