Speedometer/odometer
Does anyone know of a place where I can buy parts for a speedo?? I have a bad Odometer gear on my 87 and do not want to spend approx. $100 by getting the whole thing serviced and "warranted" when the only thing wrong is a $5.99 gear.
Also, If anyone has an old dented, etc. electro/mechanical speedo that the ODO works, I'm interested in buying it. please email me at Smatre@telocity.com |

There is a 'How To' on this web site that will explain how to fix the odometer. I fixed mine by using the information. Basically what you do is remove the bits and peices and use vice grips on the pot metal gear to 'squash' it at the center, then press it back on the shaft. Worked like a champ. Be carefull not to remove the needle in front of the face (it was not necessary) and you will have a heck of a time getting it back the correct speed indication. Mine is still off about 10 mph higher. As long as I keep forgetting I will always be under the speed limit untill some one befind me gives me a push (so to speak).

Have done this, that's when I discovered that I need the odo drive gear. Thing is a malleable plastic that has not aged well and lost a tooth.
