North Hollywood Speedo - is this company broken?

Hello,

for an RSR project, I purchased the last years some 911 time correct gauges and the sellers (Tom's Rennshop, Stein Johnsen and some ebay-Sellers) sent them to North Hollywood Speedo.

I contacted North Hollywood Speedo last year in the first week of December.
After two attempts (one via their web form and one via email) I received a response from Ralph Klink: "...I will get them from our “lost children” shelf now that I know who the belong to and what I am looking for. I will get back to you on Monday...".

That was on 12th of December.
Nothing more.

I sent some emails to remember - no answer.
It is strange that they are not reacting anymore... ...they have 7 gauges from me...

My question is now: Is this company trustworty? Or maybe broken?

Or has anybody here another email from them? I have only info@nhspeedometer.com

I would be very thankful for any help.

Andi

To be honest: No.
I am a German, living in Costa Rica. My English is not the best, so I prefer to communicate via mail.

Understood, but as indicated in another thread on this topic, this company is "old school" and still uses telephone as its primary method of communication.

Darrin, thank you.

But old school definitely doesn't rule out good customer service, does it?

Anyway, I'll use my best English tomorrow and try to call there.

...and hope that solves the problem...

I had always had good luck with North Hollywood for years. I contacted them about two years ago and they said it could be six months because they were that backed up.

I ended up sending my tach to DNA speedometer in Florida and they did a great job. With about a 10 day turnaround.

NH did my gauges for a 356. Work was perfect, took a long time and there was little communication.
They also did a Defender ODO for me, finished it same day.
Both times great work, but it seems like it's luck of the draw on timeframe.

It is funny how many bad things and good things are discussed about this company. Personally, I believe in customer service, quality, and timely service. It seems that this company is only getting the quality right. Personally, when it is time to do my gauges I will not be sending them there, no way.

I rather give my business to a company that is hungry for it and thankful for my business.

I’ve used them a lot over the past 2 decades. Work is ok, not great, but communication is poor. They just need to hire someone on fiver to respond to emails and phone calls for them.

We have used Seattle Speedometer for the last few years with great results. Good communication, quick turnaround, reasonable pricing and expert work.

Cheers

We have to find new alternatives to Hollywood Speedo and Palo Alto Speedo. Both have been around, old school, and too expensive for what they do.

fwiw, I used a guy local to me (east coast and local to me). Dropped it off on a Saturday and got it back Monday. I just needed gears replaced.. No "restoration" process. I think he works out of his home. SPECIALTYGAUGE.COM - Home
