Lets see your MSD Mounting Location

I know that this topic has been brought up many times, but I was wondering if some of you would be kind enough to share some photos of how you located your 6A or 6AL box. I am looking at the the stock CD box location. If you have photos or sketches on the adaptor plates or where you located other components such as the voltage regulator I would be most grateful.

Also, I am installing the Crane breakerless modification as well has anyone installed the MSD 6A with the stock Bosch 3 pin box and if so could you please share your experiences.

Thanks

Cool msd mounting location......

How bout this:

By laying the rear window defrost relay on its side, there is room for the MSD unit. Mark and drill 3 holes on the original aluminum mounting plate. Piece of cake!

The improvement that you see will most likely be pretty much proportionate with the CR (due to the combustion chamber shape). 2.0E's, and even more so 2.0S's have fairly large piston domes (intruders) which cause the flame front to travel a fairly long an tortuous route. Using multiple spark in the MSD provides a second chance for some of that mixture to get burned at lower rev's if the first ignition doesn't do it. You'll primarily notice this from 1000 to 3000 RPM. The higher energy spark also helps to keep the plugs from fouling.

This is combustion chamber shape is significantly less of an issue on the 2.2's and later engine's because Porsche modified the combustion chamber to a flatter design.
