Best SC exhaust?

I looked a little with search but didnn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I thought I would start a poll here.

What do you think is the best sounding exaust on a 911 (preferably 78-89 models)?

Personally, I have a B&B and absolutely love the sound, but the quailty is on the edge for me, some welds are seperating on the muffler...

If I could do it again, I'd pick up and M&K without question. Look and sound amazing, and lightweight as well, best of everything IMHO.

If only he built one for B&B headers with GT3 style tips...

If you can afford one a Monty sounds fantastic without being too noisy

I've got a Monty 2 in 2 out and really like it. If I had to do it again I'd buy one of Ben's M&K mufflers for sure.

I have headers going into a GHL (very good quality) 2in 2 out Muffler. It sounds GREAT! It may be a tad bit loud for eveyday street use though

Previously I had a hollowed cat going into a Bursch 1in/out and it was a little tame even for the street.

I had a Dansk 2-in, 2-out on my street set up and it was fantastic. Not as loud as some others but still set off car alarms every now and again. Personally I don't think street 911's should be that loud. The better the car the more understated certain things should be. I predict within 5 yrs all tailpipes will be hidden. It's the anti-ricer approach. Very clean and understated.

I have an M&K on the race set up. It's a very open version of the M&K and is waaaay too loud for the street but makes great power.

Kevin, Is that you? I tend to talk to myself when I'm on the track also. What exhaust set-up are you running? The car that passed you at the 2:00 mark sounds like mine. When you say Elbow are you refering to the Muffler By-Pass pipe?

Your car sounds good. Looked like your tires were going off/ heating up at the end. What track was that?

SSIs and a Dansk 2:1 sounds great! No resonance, not too loud, but definitely wails nicely at WOT up the tach!

the "elbow" is the nick name given to one of the gruppeB guys cars, i think its bernies, but they refuse (spiteful joke?) to all post who's car is whose..... anyways... it was given that nickname because of the one (two?) off muffler ben made for him....

i am using ben's muffler for the 1 3/4" B&B headers w/2 center exiting pipes
and i am told at every track event that i go to, that mine is easily the best soundsing car their, and, just to point out, there are 911's running B&B and monty mufflers there.... combine this, the build quality and light weight.... M&K mufflers (mb911) is the only way to go.

Jeff,

Yep. That's me. The exhaust is factory with Fabspeed cat bypass and a tail pipe attached to the end of cat bypass to replace the cat. converter and stock muffler.

The car that passed me (amongst others) is Stefan and he runs the same except his bypass is a straight pipe instead of the Fabspeed resonance chamber-type cat bypass. Both of us are really loud- just under the 104dB max. It's loud, it's raucous, it's hilarious, it's the Elbow.

The track is Blackhawk Farms in Rockton/South Beloit, IL. Fun track. My tires in that video are Yoko ES100. They are not the fastest tire, but they withstand track abuse for sure and let you have some fun- pretty forgiving. I had to use the street tires since I corded (flat spot) a rear MPSC the day before.

I have one and if you love the sound of the B & B - then you will goo over the sound of the MK - if you like an even louder ripping sound - I have a Magna flow set up for B & B headers that I can get you for less than 1/2 the price of the B & B crap muffler...
