Ok, So Milt is back in the fray. Why Does He Call it "Ricky"?

I think it's because it's his new "recruit". Ricky Recruit. So he goes by "Ricky" until he whips the car into shape. Putting it on a diet, throwing some primer on it and the usual stuff.

Then, and ONLY then, will the car be worthy of the moniker ZEKESPEED !!!

What is your theory?

Maybe because the 277 people who have seen this thread have absolutely no idea what you are talking about?.....myself included in that number.

I know what you're talking about and always look forward to the Milt/Zeke opinions. He's paid his dues, didn't buy his way into this game and not afraid to tell it like it is. I have no idea why he names his cars and don't really care about that....

I don't know why he calls it Ricky. But What I do know is it will be something special when he is done.

Don, I don't think this is really important to folks. Your curiosity is just not matched by others. For some that know me, they probably couldn't give a ***t.

But, since I explained this to Don in a PM 2 weeks ago, I'll simply say that Ricky stands for "Ricky Racer." I don't mean to offend the PO, he was a nice enough chap and we emailed a couple of times after the sale. Despite the problems with the car, he misses it "greatly."

But, during his ownership (or perhaps before he took it over five years ago) some things were installed that I am removing because of the race-bling factor. Like a carbon fiber gearshift knob (on the sale bbs now).

He did autox the car quite a bit, but some things just don't make the car any faster. So, it was a little bit Ricky Racer. Hey, everyone has their taste. I'm pretty happy he kept whatever the Monster Cables were wired to in the front trunk because it would have probably blown my old ears out more that they are already. The car is definitely low and with a LOT of negative camber, yet this was a daily driver. I'll probably use this car at the track a few times, but I'm losing interest in too much track. I mean I've be doing the Ricky Racer thing myself for 35 years. I'll probably make the car a little more civilized as I convert the exterior to a somewhat backdated look. (Lots more to follow on that subject.) I'm convinced I'd be happy with 15 or 16 inch Fuchs in lieu of the 17" Fikses (although, as Jack O. states, "...they do look the business").

It will no longer look the part of Ricky Racer when I'm done. Maybe a sleeper if I ever get the motor sorted. , or find a 3.6.

Here is a sneak preview of what I have in mind for the rear. You have to imagine this assembled from an early RS rear bumper and modified to have the 964 Turbo license panel. Oh, and Ben's GT 3 center exhaust. No tail.

I can't show you the front, sorry. That's a secret. You see, I'm not like Ricky anymore, more like a George Barris. (Oh yeah, huh, he's older than me )

Hope its the one in the foreground

I think it looks great with the Fiske on her. 17's are just so easy and inexpensive to get good tires to fit.

Hey there's a great Ebay deal on some phone dials if your wanting to give her that cool 1980 vintage look! Your probably thinking more C2 90 rims though aren't you

To tell you the truth, I too had been wondering what the "Ricky" was all about. I'm glad the OP asked.

The Fikse's are something. Of course for what you could sell them and get some smaller Fuchs for you'd have money left over for your other plans.

I can't wait to get another Porsche. I'm just glad that I've got the miata to hold me over. If I had ended up in a wrong wheel drive econobox for several years it may have driven me into a clock tower with a high powered rifle.

Keep with the updates on the progress of Ricky's transformation into Zekespeed (great name, BTW). I live my Porsche life vicariously through you fellas.

"....wrong wheel drive econobox..."

That's funny.

"I live my Porsche life vicariously through you fellas."

I think even some of us current owners do that.

"how stiff are the torsion bars?

and I guess I missed the year...?"

'88 and good question. They actually may be stock as I can't find any reference to stiffer ones being purchased (I have records back to the original owner).

"Hey there's a great Ebay deal on some phone dials if your wanting to give her that cool 1980 vintage look!"

Nah, I've got BBS 's for that.

"Your probably thinking more C2 90 rims though aren't you "

I see your smiley, but I did say Fuchs, eh? We'll see. Those Superlites are looking mighty good to me. I'd most likely trade the Fikses for those, if the offer came about.
