Fat Ass problem
Does anyone know how to get more clearance on the side supports for an '87 driver seat. Sitting on them is killing my hip bones.
Thanks |

I was 6'3 275 and lost 40lbs and that did it for me. I know you didnt need to hear that.

If you have black sport seats with the larger side bolster I'll be happy to do a trade from my standard seats + cash.

Yeah diet I know, but no diet will push the bones in.
Seats are blue leather and I am not interested in changing them out, just making them a little wider. Thanks |

Perhaps a trim /upholstery shop in your area that does custom work could reconfigure the foam padding for you. It's certainly worth a try.

I second Jack's recommendation. An upholstery shop likely could renew or add to the padding in the seat bottom thereby raising it relative to the side bolsters.

The later seat bolsters are weird.
I had the '80-84 sport seats in my old 911 and they were excellent. The seat bottom bolsters went on the outside of my hips/thighs and held them in well. The seat cushion on my 993--which has a seat design similar to the 85+ Carreras--has bolsters that jut up under my thighs. They provide zero lateral support and dig in unless I sit with my knees close together. The sport seat versions are similar, just taller. It's not just smaller bolsters that are needed, that would be even less supporting. What's needed are seats that provide high, firm support outside your legs. |

I'll be the first to say, if they're Navy Blue sport seats your only real option is to sell/trade them to me
