monyt python is an example of good British humor. Some guy smashing expensive sports cars is idiotic. Its rupert murdock style sensationalism. Do something "outrageous" for ratings.

I can't believe I freaked out an hour ago when I spilled a drop of gas on the hood during a fill-up! Looks like it just might survive.

LMFAO

Some people just don't get British humor, which is probably why American TV sucks the big one. :D

Yup. I have a 1984 Toyota Diesel Pickmeup. This sucka is tough as hell. I've done everything short of putting in the ocean. It will not die. :D

This video is funnier. Also not shown in American TV.

Not Safe for Work. But funny none-the less.

what i find funny is people who think the brits have a sense of humor and this clearly shows in the program top speed they do nothing but criticize other car manufactures so they can justify never being able to build a decent car them selves.

Cord68 I am in awe that your reply not only managed to put Clarkson in his place but the entire country of Britain too. Good work.

Kelly Bell 09-29-2006 09:49 AM

livi 09-29-2006 11:49 AM

What really makes me mad /sad is all those wannabe morons with too much money that keep trashing brand new Carrera GT´s and Enzo´s on your freeways.

Those brats really pisses me off !!!!!!

svandamme 09-29-2006 11:52 AM

actually Livi, those are real morons, not wannabe's :D

livi 09-29-2006 12:10 PM

Actually, I still need more English lessons...:D

But maybe by ruining a $700 000 sports car they are attempting to finally prove they are morons. Ergo - wannabe morons..

svandamme 09-29-2006 12:17 PM

but in crashing ,they prooved it , and no longer are wannabe's :D
lol , Markus, just make sure you don't plow something expensive into the armco next year ;)

livi 09-29-2006 12:43 PM

The most expensive I have plowed into so far are not cars, but women..

Er it has been noted before that the car in question was probably worth just a few quid. On top of that they took out all the valuable parts before the final stunt...

cygtoad 09-29-2006 11:03 PM

I remember seeing one of their shows where the challenge was to purchase three old italian sports car for some low amount of money.   Tune them up, track them against one another, and drive them on a short cross country.   All of them were slow as hell, and broke down before the end of the journey. One of them was a Dino.

Sure, they did this piece on the 911, but they never could have included Germany in the above contest.   It would have been too unfair.   Instead they mock the 911 for being too tough.   I think the line was "Some people call this a supercar, but it can't be, it's too tough"!

As for speed, that would have been no contest either.   As much as they bashed the car, they did little but reinforce the point that the 911's build quality was phenomenal. And OK, they destroyed an old 911, but Holywood trashes classic cars every day in the name of some crappy movie, ala Gone In 60 Seconds.   I can live with that.   It looks like they dropped only a rusted shell anyway.

Wickd89 09-30-2006 11:44 PM

Beyond stupid.

Nothing funny about spray painting a painting. And nothing funny about destroying a car for no reason.

This guy is a real car guy, what was he thinking......

svandamme 09-30-2006 11:55 PM

it's no worse then when anybody crashes an early 911 on a track
this was a worn out example, and they gutted it for parts prior to destroying the empty hull

Jack Olsen did exactly that , gutting an early 911, and then he by accident destroyed it... yet everybody here would want to kiss the ground he walks on because of his new pretty car

no offence Jack, i'm not putting any blame, just making an analogy
cause this misplaced taking offence is just silly

everybody laughs when it's not a Porsche that get's destroyed, for instance the Toyota HiLux that got a 3 episode torture treatment in a way to proove it's ruggedness... yet the same with a 911 and everybody balks , that, is called hyprocy, because that 911, in the end , is just a car, and Clarckson did the same thing , torture to proove how tough it was...if you can't stand Clarckson's humor, i guess you better not watch Top Gear then, because they do destroy the occasional junker. this time it just happened to be an early 911... get over it
