How to kill a 911...

Not sure if this is a repost. Anyway I love the show "Top Gear", I remember a couple years ago when I saw this episode. It was entertaining yet sad and kind of made me a little upset. Enjoy to whom ever hasn’t seen this before.

That's been posted many times before and just pi$$e$ me off.

I don't know about anyone else, but what the hell was the point?

Maybe its just the radio talkshow mentality of, "say something outrageous (in this case DO something outrageous) and wait for the avalanche of responses and counter responses. Isn't that what talkradio, particularly politcal talkradio is all about these days to get ratings?

Yeah it was pretty silly and pointless. What did that poor car do to deserve that?

Get a sense of humor, guys...that poor 911 was a rusty heap and no big loss. I've seen better 911s gone to the crusher. Personally, I found it hilarious and a tribute to the toughness of the 911.

Wow...lots of angry porsche owners. jkarolyi is right, Dont take this to seriously. it was pointless yes, but he was just showing how tuff our favorite little sports car is. And we got 40+years of history and racing to wipe the floor with almost any other car maker.

If it makes you feel any better, they did drop the engine & tranny before the coup de grace. I really like Clarkson, but never understood his crazed hatred of the 911...

Cheers,

Paul.

It's kind of a rivalry with co-host Richard Hammond, who loves all things 911. This I also find hilarious...gotta love TopGear. Actually, Clarkson has admitted to liking a 911 or two on occasion, particularly the water-cooled ones.

I like it !

Met a woman the other day who came out of the wrong side of a low speed head on with a 911. She was in her Ford explorer . The guy in the 911 ( fiddling with his phone - probably a 996 driver- walked away while she is still undergoing phys therapy due to his stupidity!. She said the 911 didn't sustain all that much damage. Go figure.

First time I have seen that and too me it was pretty amazing. I did not know the cars were that tough. It just makes it harder and harder to sell.

On the other hand, (during the drop) I found myself getting upset at that point. If you can't shoot it, can wreck it, can't drop heavy objects on it - GIVE UP! And don't cheat! The car did not explode, that was obviously rigged. So in the end, who really won? Well, we did. He cheated.

(Top Gear still always entertains me though)

Thanks for the repost!

I thought the show was a compliment to the 911 line. It shows how tough these cars are.

I wonder if Clarkson realizes what he has done? Everytime one of these cars is crushed, parted or destroyed it increases the rarity of these gems.

Does seem very wasteful though...

That Toyota piece was a classic too. How can anyone not find this stuff funny?

Some people just don't get British humor, which is probably why American TV sucks the big one.
