Thanks to Kevin and the Ruby Red Duck lives!

A HUGE thanks to Kevin at Automotive Innovations and Restoration for the paint clinic this past Saturday. I had butchered my ducktail in my first ever paint attempt and Kevin graciously offered a paint clinic on painting. The day was fantastic. Kevin was extremely patient in answering all my questions and going through the process step-by-step. I was able to ascertain the areas where I went wrong (and there were many) but came away confident enough to try again (bumpers/rockers next). The only thing left to do is color sanding and buff...hopefully to be done this week. It was also nice to finally meet some other Pelicans (dd74 and techweenie). I really do appreciate Kevin (and others as well) who graciously give back to the Porsche community…hopefully I’ll be able to return the favor to Kevin or others in the near future.

And the result…the Ruby Red Duck lives.

Next project is to paint the 8s I just finished polishing, put some 245/45s on then, and move the 7s (with 225/50) up front. Then I’m set for a while…well, until next month, the suspension is next.

Very nice! That will look great with 7's and 8s! Why are you having to respray your bumpers and rockers? Or are you changing them?

The bumpers and rockers are quite worn/faded and the front bumpers have quite a lot of rick chips...they show very easily on this color. So, I thought if painting the ducktail goes well I might give the bumpers a try.

Well I hope it does and you can get rid of those pesky rock chips. I know about them all too well. Midnight blue metallic with Signal Yellow underneath.
