First engine pull on 3.3 Turbo, questions

First it seems I have blown out seal behind flywheel, bummer, my book says to pull engine and trans. same time, no way to pull just the engine?I take it not enough room to move engine back, so that the spline would not clear. Any helpfull hints, or anything to be aware of that the factory book fails to mention?

You going to work alone? You can do it easyier with . Have you thought removing the rear valance. Have to lift it up enought to clear your intake when you get it out.

Have you read Waynes book?

Have you a Porsche engine stand adapter?

What other things have you condsidered while you are there. Sonunds like rewarding project.

I plan on adjusting valves, all new vacume lines, spark plugs, tired of sheet metal cuts on wrist, maybe detale the engine a bit, would like to detaile engine compartment, and check for cracked wires. I have a factory workshop manual that I am fallowing.

I took both engine and trans out same time, which I think is easier. Take the rear bumper off first to give yourself more room and jack up the rear end high as you can. Otherwise it wasn't too bad.
Good luck and be safe.

Thank you for your input, decision time, seems unanimus that taking eng. and trans out together is easier, and less chance of damage. Thanks again all, Greg

I'm on my fith removal as of two weekends ago (for a complete rebuild) each time is with the transmission connected. I use an ATV jack for the motor, I lower this down flat and then I jack the body up real quick with a second jack and I slip the motor out. It's a cinch disconnecting and reconnecting the transmission once the motor is on the floor.

You certainly are getting in a lot of practice, I modified a motorcycle jack to fit the casing better, going to pull it tomorrow, decided on both eng. and trans. Thanks for advice, hope I don't get in as much practice as you . Thanks again Greg
