Door Handle Trigger & Pin

how far should one have to pull the trigger on the door handle before it contacts the latching mechanism and starts to make the door open?

I am wondering if the pin that contacts ones of the horns on the latch mech. might be worn on my car and that is making it a little hard to open....

(I have already replaced the reciever latch that mounts on the tub/piller and a body shop has adjusted the positiion of it a few times.)

There was a fix posted before about gluing a him in ahead of the pin - I might try that if I need to compensate for wear on the pin. But first... how much travel should there be?

I've got a similar problem on the driver's handle. I recently replaced my handle and the pin on the replacement was too long, so I sawed off to the approx length of the old broken handle. I noticed on the old handle that on the end of the pin is a plastic piece. I assume this is to reduce friction on the plate it strikes. My handle has become very difficult to trigger. I have to squeeze really hard and all the way into the back of the handle to get the door to spring open. I think this is due to [I believe] the friction caused by the lack of a plastic end on the replacement handle pin.

I have been wondering about glueing a plastic end [cap ?] on the end of the pin to lengthen it and to get rid of the friction. It would need to be pretty hard plastic I think.

just a thought, might help with you problem too. . . ??
