My Tech Can't Figure out how to align the rear on my 66
Ok so I had it in for an alignment which shows that the whole car is out of whack. I assume only rear toe can be adjusted and its VERY OFF. I see the allen head cam bolts but what can be done with them? The arm is rigidly mounted, none of the holes have slots. So any help on getting the rear aligned would be great. If you have any tips for the front that would be swell as I am sure we'll hit some hurdles on that end too. PS I read the 101 projects description but I dont think that applies to my 1966.

It took me a while, but I finally found a local shop that had an older alignment guy who knew his stuff. My '66 has had alignment troubles at the rear as well. The left rear wheel was hit many years ago, hard enough to bend the driver side banana bar, and the shop that did the replace/repair got everything as straight as they could, but not perfect. Ever since, techs have struggled with alignment, usually ending up with "well, that's not quite right but it's the best we can do". Finally this experienced gent figured out that he needed to make a tool to hold the parts in place while he adjusted the eccentric and tightened it down. Lesson learned: It might be a mistake to use the eccentric to force the parts into alignment, and it doesn't help that everything in there's now 40 years old....

Haha, I know what you mean. Well do you just loosen all the bolts on the rear and turn the eccentric? Any idea? I am so lost as to how a perfectly rigid mounted arm is effected by a single eccentric? By the way Adam, do you have a 2.2 liter flat six like me or a 2.2 four cylinder?
