1987 carrera emblem location

I like to place the carrera emblem on the engine lid of my 1987 911, and i need to know exactly where to place it? how many inches from the top of the lid to the first letter "C" of carrera and the distance from the top of the lid to the last letter "a"?
previously i had a rear spoiler and the placement is lower than without the rear spoiler.

or, is the in-thing to leave it off?

thank you in advance.

Garry

It's a Carrera, should say so, IMO.
Right there for no tail... (not my car, not red enough, and "hardtop"..)

Good question. A search will come up with a few different alternatives. A consensus would be great.

Edit: I need to install mine too, not to have my Carrera mistaken for a SC..

I was sitting here watching "The 9". It sucks so here are the measurements fresh from the garage...

~2.5" from the edge of the grill opening to the top of the C
~3" to the top of the A.
~13" on each side.

My T.V. broke a couple of months ago, so, I cancelled cable.

I concur with rw229, but I am dissapointed to find out that mine is a little off. My car has been repainted. Arrggg! Thanks, now I have something else to fix!

What were you planning on doing? Stripping off the PO's respray to restore the car to "original"? j/k

Well, it was my dads and it was Schieferblaumetallic. When I do repaint, it'll go back to its former glory and I will make sure the emblem is lined up!

I'll refine rw229's measurements a little:

On my '85, the C is 2 5/8" from the top of the lid and the 'a' is 3 1/8 from the top of the lid.

Does anyone know where that diagram above came from, and is it applicable to the US cars?

17.5cm from the bottom seems a little high to me.

Anyone here have a US Carrera with the factory Carrera tail and original, factory installed emblem that can do a quick measurement? Would be much appreciated!

Did yours come with one? There is a factory delete option code for it. Check your sticker under the front hood and see if it was the factory delete. Personally prefer them with out. On the other hand if it was on the car it would be left in place

You can tell when a tail has been added as the script is too close to the whale tail.

Good diagram................

even with out the emblem trust me we can tell , but it is flattering that you would "backdate" your car to look like an SC

I do and here are some photos for you. Measurements are in CM but they pretty well match the previous posters Diagram. Sorry about the pic quality. Its raining cats and dogs outside and one of the bulbs in the Garage is gone.

The third pic is measured running parallel to the script from left to right starting at the engine lid left side. I hope this helps
