Replacing front bumper "smile"
Hey everyone!
Just curious, has anyone replaced the "smile" on the front of their car lately? Was it very difficult? Where will I get the best price? Any replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks C Metzger 76 911S |

If you have access to Excellence magazine, they covered this a few issues ago. If interested, I could give you exact date. Let me know. Michael

C Metzger,
Ever since I started working on bodywork on my fender a few months back, my smile has been sitting in the garage. If it isn't too late, there's 12 screws that needs to come off in order for the smile to come off. At least that's what I can see. You'd have to remove the front rubber strip on the bumper and take the bumper off. Don't forget to also take off the screws on the side by the rubber bellows. There are four(4) screws that hold the smile to the front of the car, four(4) on each side to attach it to bumper. Not a very hard thing to do. Where the best price is, I have no idea, but I've seen relatively low prices on Vertex, although there's been controversy on how good their service is. Shop around. Good Luck. ------------------ Jeff 1976 911S |

The 'smile' replacement article was in the August 1999 issue of 'Excellence,' p. 133.
