Here a whole different project we are doing right now of one our Customers.
Its a BMW 3.5 CSL, M49 engine, 24 valve with slide throttle injection, 430 BHP from BMW motorsport mid '70.
For the people who enjoyed these cars when racing in the same Group as the Porsche's

Wim,

That's quite the collection you have there!

Yes, parts for these machines can be difficult to find, even during the production years.
I worked for BMW for sometime. Although at the dealer level.. I made sure to make friends with some @ BMW/NA, and have several enthusiastic friends here with connections to BMW in the Old Country should things get really tough. There used to be several M1s in the area here that were maintained by us or one by 1 of 2 qualified independents. Those were the days!

Jim Garfield 02-25-2010 08:37 AM

Thanks for the pictures from your "art gallery" Wim, beautiful stuff! The cars in Holland must not use oil and grease. ;)

My Brother Ralph his home build race simulator;

1st one, it was fit with air cylinders, no smooth movements, just a try out project!

Project changed to another plan, second one with electrical Cylinders, more realistic;

Where did you get the flares? Are they steel or GRP?

Thanks

Wow Wim,

Very impressed with your projects!!
Your website is in my favourites now, keep up the good work!
It looks like you work up to my standards, or even better, not too many mechanics over here do.
I've seen too many "handymen" already.
I might just have to pay you a visit and see for myself!!

shbop 04-19-2010 07:11 AM

wow!

Tareq993 04-19-2010 07:26 AM

The fatter white car.. RSR..

GRP Glass reinforced plastic. Fibre Glass.

I am guessing they must be but was wondering. I am planning on building a IROC or RSR shape car. Doing the homework.

Your cars look really nice

bergporsche 04-23-2010 02:45 AM

All GRP German top quality, with re-enforced inner-layers.
Front hood aluminum from a 964 RS
See here the start of the RSR project in 2002 and stil not ready!
Time fly when you're having fun!

Thank you for those pics. They will be very helpful.
Do you have the contact for the GRP parts supplier?

And yes time is always the problem. I have a few project that I have been working on that long and still not finished. Too many toys and not enough time! and money of course.

Thanks again for that info.

bergporsche 05-14-2010 01:16 AM

Tareq,

The GRP parts are not available anymore from the supplier which had the good molts for them.
I bought my set for more then 20 years ago.
Just look for a quality set which has double layers inside to prevent damage by the rubber of the tires.
A lot of RSR replica sets i have seen are too thin and have bad fittings.
