Sorry Michael. If it's any consolation, that car will still be a blast to drive. It's just going to hurt you when you try to sell it. Hopefully you didn't overpay to begin with. You might even consider legal recourse if you only bought it recently.

If you want to check yourself, this site has the data: Simon's Porsche 911 SC Site

Your serial number is also in the correct range for that engine type.

Mark

Post a picture of the motor.

It may be that just the case was replaced with all Carrera parts, including the crank, from the original car? It's a long shot but worth investigating.

That's a great point, I was thinking about that today. The SC case and Carrera cases are the same, but the fuel injection systems are obviously different.

A photo will tell us. Maybe Mike lucked out......

Yes! Looks like Gordon was spot-on, that's a 3.2L intake system! Someone must have used the older 911SC case for a rebuild. I doubt they added that intake system to a 3.0L engine.

So you no longer have a numbers-matching car, but you likely have a real 3.2L engine like you're supposed to.

Sorry to have given you a fright. I should have thought about it more carefully.

Hi everyone,
I am in process of approving 3.2L *63F03752* engine fitted in 1975 911s.
Is there any way of finding engine origin?
Thanks for the assistance!

Good Day all! I hope you are all safe and keeping well during this trying time.

In my free time I frequent a scrap dealer near me...social distancing to the max.

I found a block under a load of scrap and knew it was a Porsche block but given it is under a load of scrap I was only able to pull the block number.

Can anyone please help me ID what it is?

901 105 111 OR

Thank you! Im waiting for the scrap dealer to unearth it so he can load it into my truck but he is a tad busy so just wanted to try find out what I have unearthed.

Unfortunately that is not a serial #, and is really not useful. Any raised # is likely to be a casting mark. Any serial or type # is punched into the surface.

That is a casting number for a cam housing. https://www.bing.com/search?q=901+105+111+OR&pc=MOZI&form=MOZTSB

I ran across serial number 6273432 and would like help with decoding as the second number doesn’t appear to match any of the info in this thread. 1977 6 cylinder.. but what’s the 2?

Aplogies I too am new to this and find the whole VIN and engine number confusing, I am looking buying a 1969 911 targa, its badged as 911s although I suspect its a 911T, the engine number is 6195940 and the VIN 119110377, if anyone can decipher these I would be very grateful.

VIN 119110377 is a 1969 911T Targa
6195940 is a 1969 911T engine and probably original.
