Rennshift Performance Shifter

Installed the Rennshift Performance Shifter and the Stomski shift coupler in my car Saturday, Oh man, so much better, the shifter and the coupler are of excellent quality and work fantastic together I highly recommend them.

Is that the JWest Engineering product? If so, can you give some details about the installation process?

Thanks!

Its pretty easy, I changed the coupler first and marked the shaft to give myself a reference point from witch to start from when I began to rig the coupler to the shifter after the installation was complete, then I installed the shifter, rigged the coupler to the shifter, and after I could engage all gears easily, I set my shift stops and went for a test drive, it shifted great, I did add 1 more set of shims to the shifter to stiffen the side to side movement, went for a test drive again everything checked good, it was a major improvement. probably the thing that took the longest was rigging the coupler to shifter, you rig it to the 3/4 gear plane not the 1/2 gear plane.

You can see the installation instructions here:
http://www.jwesteng.com/porsche/rennshift/install.htm

In a nutshell, the shifter comes complete. You need to bolt the included base plate on and install the assembly in the car, then attach the upper stick at the angle you desire.

No parts of the old shifter are reused, so installation only takes a couple of minutes.

If they had offered a "show discount" at the Ventura German Autofest I probably would have bought one as an "impulse buy." For now I can only dream....

For me it was a must, my original shifter was worn out and my coupler was shot, it was hard to enjoy the car, I had fun driving it ,but hated shifting it, it was like shooting craps and shifting at the same time.

I sold all I brought, so I'm not sure a show special would have been the right thing for me to do . I even had one bought from my display as I was packing up.

FYI, I will be raising the prices in January. I expect Pelican to follow with the new pricing so if anyone is considering a purchase soon I would recommend getting it in before the end of the year.

How does this shifter compared to the Wevo?

I've been using this shifter for almost 2 years now. I love it. Awesome product.

Quick story: So I've been using a Rennshift shifter for awhile on both 911 and 915 transmissions. Then a few months ago I drove a 964 with a G50 trans. The G50 trans was nice but I remember thinking how I really liked my 915 w/ Rennshift.

I dont want to anger the Wevo gods: I have a rennshift on my 901 but I've only seen the wevo for the 915. In MY OPINION, the rennshift is better. They both work on exactly the same principals so shift feel should be identical (the rennshift has ZERO slop, and you really cant get better than that). The wevo has a nice pretty one piece shaft but requires using the stock housing. The rennsift replaces everything w/ nicely machined bits. So, call it "even" in these respects. But, when you add in the facts that the rennshift is 1)cheaper and 2) you can sell your orig shifter, made it a no brainer for me. I'll be ordering one for my 915 too when I get it back on the road.
