Jim - how'd you get your engine up to 400 hp?

Randy Blaylock 10-17-2006 12:54 PM

Try this one on for size.

They added a Garrett turbo kit in the Florida off-season.

1475lbs wet/330RWHP = 4.47

Oh yeah, 10 inch wide front wheels, 14 inch wide rear wheels, Atlantic series Hoosier slicks.

I started with a 93tt motor initially rated at 255HP then, Mild Street Porting (now very aggressive street port) HKS T-04E Turbo - 1300cc secondary injectors, Motec M-4, boosts set to 15PSI (I actually ran 12PSI and 330RWHP in that video and the engine was 1/2 blown as it was overheating and I was ignoring it like an idiot) I also flew in one of the best rotary engine tuners in the country to tune it.

After this rebuild from my overheat it will make a reliable 450RWHP if not more.

To stay on subject, my point was there is always a badder dog out there.

I can understand a guy running to the local Chevy dealership and buying a 70K Z-06 due to all the press. But, on the track, as Craig knows there are some really bad ass cars. I remember seeing a Superchaged C-5 Z-06 that was scary fast on the straights, he passed me like I was standing still and I was doing 150+ on the front straight of Moroso.

My point is Craigs 930 is raw, no traction control no abs its all up to him to make it go around fast. That is 10X more rewarding than having technical doo dads step in and save you when you make a mistake. It also alows you to push harder without consequence.

I actually met Diasio at Moroso. He was the with Cameron Worth of Pettit Racing sorting out the Renesis powered Diasio.

Cool car BTW.

A Diasio with a (more) proper P/W ratio.......good.

The Corvette to end all arguments

There has been talk about this model for years and it appears that Chevy is backing it up.

Damn! what a crazy ass thread.

sad to see it get somewhat ugly :(

kind of reminds me of when Jack and Tyson post a Thill vid saying that it was FOR FUN to show lines, cars handling characteristics etc.

what follows?

pages of criticism towards Jack for not being more aggressive and passing Tyson.......

Craig, I appreciate you and David posting this and feel bad that it turned the way it did.

BOTH are fantastic cars, BOTH are excellent drivers, BOTH had fun :)

You are riding in a Ferrari F430 with F1 transmission.
Right before the 3:00 mark there is some entertainment - look ahead

"This was filmed from a Ferrari 430 Spider. I'm in the black Z06. You can see what happens to my buddy in the silver C6 when you shift from 2nd at redline to 1st instead of 3rd. It tends to slow you down somewhat."

For the hell of it - a stock C6 Z06 on a Dynojet:
http://lgmotorsports.com/gallery/alb...Z06%20dyno.jpg
This is the lowest C6 Z06 dyno run I have seen.
From LG Motorsports - Z06 tuners - so.....

My 930, in rough tune and 3 degree retarded (safe starting point) timing, had 438 RWHP and 413 RWTQ on the same model dyno.

Adding LG Long Tube Headers and a non-emission passing cam to a C6 Z06 = about 515 RWHP on a Dynojet.

Interesting forum:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=100

11.9 in the 1/4 is apparently fairly easy to achieve in a C6 Z06.
What is a bit odd on those cars is removing the air filter (what useful data this provides.....dunno...) adds 20 hp.
C5 and some C6 "air filter upgrades" have had problems with massive engine destruction from hydrolock (water in engine, non-compressible).
No surprise as to the conservative nature of the stock filter and inlet design, as the factory builds things for the worst possible conditions and tests/designs them accordingly.
