Nice cars and fine driving. I loved the sound of the 911 engine winding out in the video! Makes me want to take mine out for a spin right now! The Corvette is a fine car, but I love my 911.

What's amazing is just how well the 911 body style holds up against the newest and most sleek of the current cars. I've always appreciated the Z06, where at first I thought it looked like a conglomeration of many other cars - particularly a Mitsubishi 3000 when looking at the Z06 from the front. The car, nonetheless, has grown on me. But the 911 and 930. Timelessly classy. Like Michelle Pfeiffer, that is, if you like Michelle Pfeiffer. :D |
That black Z06 is one sexxxy looking machine. I'd love to own one.
Even if it isn't from Deutchsland...... |

Yeah I'd keep the 930...
But a Z06 is a true challenge to drive quickly - they are more alike than many may think. That black Z06 is one sexy bugger. |
He needs to tint the windows and it would look really mean. I sent about 4 hours looking at the back of it and i just kept looking better.
The one thing that is hands down the 930 sounds much much better, not to say the Zo6 doesn't sound cool. Its just that the 930 sounds like pure anger... |
The abandoned building and pile of garbage really adds a nice finish to this thread...

There was another Z06 at the track day:

Just wait until the guy in the Silver Z06 finds this thread... he'll swear he kicked both of your tails and we'll be in this all over again.
|
Somebody should learn how to spell, refrain from hitting the return key too often and from digressing to his hobbies in defence of his lack of track time, which by the way is a valid accusation unlike the one he himself made on the Z06 driver.

It detracts from the thread when suddenly we have unwarranted feather ruffling - supposedly just for fun - when most of us just want to read about the cars. |
David, and craig,
very cool Been in both cars (similar 930 and Z06) Both are impressive. 930 very raw and the Z06 was very muscle car like but very refined such as many new cars. What would I choose to have the 930 but it is what does it for me. it is all personal preference. You guys needs to chill a little and just have fun(the BBS) david and craig have fun looks like you did |
They are both nice cars.
Last time I checked this was a Porsche Forum. In the whole scheme of things who gives a flying rats a$$. It's not like all of us are going to run out and trade our cars for a bow tie mobile. The best thing about this whole thread is that they are enjoying these cars on the track and not stoplight racing... And that craig is a good guy. |
I read almost all of this thread.
Here's what I think the point was. Imagine this is an actual person to person chat: Craig: So, I ran with a new Z-06 toady. One of us: Really? Cool!! How did it go? Craig: Pretty good, he was a good driver, we ran really close, did some lead/follow, and had a blast. I have video, will show you later. One of us: Excellent. Can't wait to see it. Those Z-06's are F-in fast... Anything break? basically, you get the point. Good fun, with some video to boot. There are too many variables to pick a "winner". To those of us who have actually driven anything on a road course, it is obvious that DRIVERS are the key factors in how fast the car goes around the track, especially in the amateur ranks. Everything looks good on paper when you compare car A to car B. Reality is a different matter. And before anyone bets hundreds of thousands of dollars on a Z-06 vs 930 vs GT2 vs GT3 vs Viper GTS vs F14 vs Starship Enterprise vs Mach 5 (Speed Racer's car for those of you that are slow!!), know that a seasoned pro can clean most of our clocks in far inferior machinery, probably while talking on their cell phones... -Garen (87 930) |
I had fun. And will continue to. Too bad Pelican often diverges into another territory.
The Internet: The Theater of The Mind. |

Yeah, I saw that Craig. A beast.
It still looks too much like the base Corvette - the Pelicans will notice it, but my wife would just think it is another 'Vette. If Chevy is going to build a supercar, they should start from scratch (think Ford GT). |
****Purely for fun, based only upon eduacted speculation****
Typically a 505HP C6 Z06: Has about 460 RWHP on a Dynojet 248C - weighs about 3100 lbs 6.74 lb/RWHP 930: 420 RWHP. Will have 440 RWHP on the same dyno - weighs 2650 lbs. Currently 6.31 lb/RWHP Once 'tuned' - will have 6.02 lb/RWHP Following that same pattern, the 'Super Z06' may have 605 RWHP at the same weight - perhaps a bit higher - from what I've read, call it 3150 lbs. 5.21 lb/RWHP Yipes. |
"1 7/8 kooks headers with off road x-pipe,ported t/body , low temp thermostate, exhaust flap fuse pulled "did nothing but lean out the bottom end ",haltech f1 filter , cai, stock z06 cat back,my hoosier 325/30/19 a6 tires ,stock exhaust and tuned with hptuners"
