Tranny Rebuild? Send it to John Walker!
I just had my '85 915 trans rebuilt by John Walker (JW). This guy is GREAT! He communicates VERY well and never leaves you just hangin' wondering the status of the rebuild. Returns calls promptly, fair price, and easy to work with, not to mention supportive in terms of helping out with the tons of questions during my re-installation on Saturday, AND Sunday night. Now that's what I call customer support!
Basically - If you have a transmission to have rebuilt or serviced you NEED to call JW.

The rebuild it self was less then $1700 (not including shipping) and that included shift sleeves for 1&2 and 3&4 and syncros, dog teeth, and some other things I can't recall off the top of my head. Your price and replacement parts may vary.

John Walker is the real deal.
He's also extremely generous with his time on this BBS.

I'll second wcc on this. While I didn't even know about JW when I had mine "rebuilt", I wish I had. I helped Bill with his trans and he's right, John followed up and was excellent in his communications.
Maybe he'll consdier moving closer to MI.? Yeah, right!!
