What was the first year 911 to have a computer
I presently own a '69 T and I would like to buy a daily driver and I would prefer something easy for ME to maintain.
Which 911 is a simple as my '69? Thanks! |

The 1984 was the first with DME, and a brain under the passenger seat, but as far as I know these were not complex cars to maintain, not by a long shot. The DME is a dead reliable system....unlike webers, points etc. I'm willing to wager the 1984 - 1989 would be more simple to maintain than your 1969, and possibly easie even than the K-Jetronic cars (1973.5 - 1983) which didn't have computers, but can be finnicky to troubleshoot.
After 1989, I'd start to agree that the cars became too complex for the "simple" back yard mechanic. Other's will likely chime in with their opinion.
