Anyone have 930 factory workshop manuals

That would be willing to fax or e-mail a couple of pages to me. Bought the workshop manuals on CD, turned out to be photographs of each page that were not in focus, can't read most of the pages, what a rip off.

I got it, thanks. I have obviously been black listed at Pelican, so lets get it out in the open. Almost 2 years ago I inquired about a new CDI through Pelican. I was told that Germany only had 42 left, and the cost was almost $2,000.00, I was never told that Pelican could re-build my old one. The first I found out about re-building one was through my mechanic, he has passed away. So that is why I inquired about who re-builds them at this site, I never knew Pelican could have that done, they never told me, and would rather have sold me a new one for $2000.00. I have tried apologizing to Lauren through an e-mail to his work, but because Pelican tried to sell me something instead of giving alternatives, now no one will talk with me or help me out. I thought very highly of a lot of people here at Pelican, and have always shown all of you respect. Not real fair, see ya all. Greg

I doubt you are blacklisted on pelcan but asking someone to violate copyright protection is frowned upon.

Loren was just sore because you didn't send him your CDI box. He is the vulture that sits in wait fo CDI or DME problems but can't directly offer his services.

If you know anything about electronics there is a better data package on this BBS for the CDI than the factory has.

Too bad TV repair is dead, one of those guys could fix it in 20 minutes tops.

I'm bored and wide awake. Does this help any?

6-pin CDI

You didn't say what year 930 you have but if it is an 85 (only diagram I have) it gets power (to pin 15) from something called a delayed action relay. It must be somewhere in the left rear of the engine compartment because that is where it picks up ground.

That relay also has connections to B+(alternator) and fuse 7 and 8 (15 ign run and start?)

I can't find any other reference and that is the only Turbo documentation I have.

Maybe someone Monday morning will be more knowledgeable

Thanks for your responses, my problem turned out to be something stupid, I had my starter rebuilt and after re-installing engine I connectedthe hot wire from Alt. to ground, just wasn't paying attention, I guess, was in a hurry. I hope Loren doesn't hold anything against me, if I knew I could send my CDI in through Pelican, I never would have asked who rebuilds them. From my responses I got when I asked, there are quite a few people here that are not aware of Lorens service, once again I apologize to Loren, there was never any offense intended.

CDI

Before I found out that they could be re-built, I stockpiled 3 of them, I wanted to send them in to be checked and reconditioned, since hooking the alt. up to the correct post, i now get that high pitched whine that I love to here, hate it when I don't here it. I plugged all 3 in to my harness and one sounded a bit iffy, so I wanted to send 2 in for reconditioning, and if anyone ever had an emergancy and needed one, I would be able to help them out.

Can anyone help me figure out what the pins on a 8 pin box for a 3 litre turbo 1977 connections should be?

I have according to the pin number inscribed on the box referring to the plug, 1-Black/ purple stripes, 2 -Screen, 3 Brown, 4-white, 5-Red with white, 6-White (screen) 7-Brown (screen) 8 - blank. Interestingly the the boost guage is showing no connections, so I am starting to suspect corrosion on some of the terminals of the connectors. Which pin gives power to the CDI Box, and where does this power come from, prehaps I can work backwards to trace this. Box does not whistle, tried another box, still no go.

Porsche Crest

Mark,

Red /White is your power lead.

Here is a page that may help ... you can just print page 3 from IE6 to get the connector diagram & labels:

http://www.perma-tune.com/930902tech.html

Remember, the connector at the wiring harness is mirror image of the box connector! Permatune does not usually label terminal numbers the same as Porsche, either!
