Front bumper 'smile' removal question.

I have a new (used) front bumper 'smile' to go on my '85 carrera.
How do I get at the screws ( 4 each side ) to remove the old one?
The 4 from inside the trunk look easy. I wonder if I need to remove the valence or bumper to get at the others from underneath?
Thanks.
Chris

Thanks for the reply.
I thought it would be more complicated. Which bolts remove the bumper?
Do I have to remove the rubber strip at the front first?

Remove the front rubber strip Two screws, one at each end and the front strip is gently pryed from the bumper. Now unblot the four bimper bolts and your home. The front bumper is usually very stuck to the robber that is sandwiched between the bumper and the bumper shocks.

Any chance you have a link to that "trick" thread? I (think) I have to remove my bumper to remove my left front signal housing. I haven't even climbed under there to check, but it looks like it may be necessary. Either that or the front valence.

Smile

Success! A clean smile is much nicer than a 'toothy' grin!
Main nuts were very rusted, and bumper was well stuck to rubber on the bumper mount 'shocks'
Got the nuts on the bellows each side. A bit fiddly to reach on rh side with oil cooler there. tiny 8mm spanner and a few minutes and they came away.
Headlamp washer pipes were a bit harder to remove without destroying the plastic.
( By the way, how do I activate the headlamp washers? I have never seen a switch for these...)
