Evolution Motorsports Intake doesn't fit

I recieved my Evolution Motorsports intake today and it simply doesn't fit. Very upset.

First it didn't come with directions. Not that putting on an intake is rocket science, but it has this braket with several holes of different sizes. So I fiddled around trying to figure out where it attaches. When I found the only spot where I think it could logically go it still doesn't quite fit right and I had to bend the bracket a bit to get it to work at all.

Then once I get it all to kinda fit I go to shut the hood and the hood arm hits the filter. If I try to move to miss the hood then it runs into the a/c or the intake runners!

I guess Im sending this back unless someone can post a pick showing my how this thing is suppose to go.

Was the intake you bought for your 86? The evolution website does not show any products for that car.

Hey Jerry,

I got it off Pelican. If you find Aire Tek, that is what i ordered. The picture is NOT what I was sent. I was sent an Evolution motorsports piece that looks like the image below but not with a metal elbow, but a black plastic. I called Pelican and asked why I was sent a different piece. I was essentially told Aire Tek was the company that handles Evolution Motorsports stuff.

this is NOT the piece but the piece is of similar design. I couldn't find an image at EM's site.

I know, but Pelican told me it was for cars up to '89. It does mate up the barn door perfectly, so it must be for a Porsche.

In the instructions it talks about possibly having to trim the bolt on the decklid hinge.
Personally I don't think that should be a solution to fitting an aftermarket item.

The design of the product should adapt to the car, not car to the product.

I agree, but its more than just the bolt. But its more than the bolt, its the lowever curved edge of the hinge thats the problem (bolt too I suppose)

Looking at the PDF instructions....it shows in last pic a Coned filter vs the first 2 shots that are a Cylindrical filter....

Could that be the problem/fix?

Im not sure they are any different. I think thats just the camera angle. But A more narrow fillter would help. As it is now there is about 1" maybe less from the mounting flange of the filter to the outside edge.
