That pic gives me hope Mark. The PO, as well as the PO before that seems to have NEVER cleaned the underside of the car! What did you use to clean it so well (other than alot of elbow grease)?
Thanks, Mike

I wish I could have cleaned it while it was in the car! The before and after are a result of a complete rebuild. Hopefully, the oil leaks have been addressed and it will stay clean for at least a while!

What did you (or 'they') clean it with? Clean it in a vat, or lots of elbow grease? I've always used Simple Green, but I've read on Pelican that some people don't like it - not sure if they don't like because it doesn't clean well, or because of the god-awful smell...
Again, Mark, it looks great! Here's to hoping it stays clean for many, many miles!

Simple Green corrodes Al - there are long threads on whether USAF dissed it or not for aircraft maint. (apparently not). Be real careful if you do use it.
Always clean first with a scraper, and then paper towels or rags. The next step is a pressure wash - and HOT water is great. Detergents & solvents are the last step. Be sure not to just let everything go into the street drain - that goes to people's drinking water and to your supply of seafood. The best thing I've found is to call around to car washes until I find one that _does_ recycle their wash water. Then I use their self-service high pressure hoses. I can do that hundreds of times for the cost of buying a pressure washer, which woud just sit and take up space in the garage.

Bill K are those "thermal reactors" still mounted on your 77 Turbo? I've always heard these should be removed to help the exhaust valves last a bit longer. If you don't need them to pass smog I'd ditch 'em.
I'm not too familiar with turbo motors so if they're not thermal reactors then ignore my comments ![]()
