Quick race car graphics question

Is there a traditional font and size that most people like to use for printing driver's names on the roof just above the door?

Like the following, but I don't need the drop shadow:

And yeah I searched, to no avail.

Thanks!

Do whatever you want. The car number and class are regulated as far as size and contrast. Everything else is a free for all.

As with any racing question, read the GCRs.

I'd say whatever you like: Here's mine as an example:

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I know I can do what I want, and the GCRs only specify dimensions for car numbers and class. I just wanted to know if there happened to be a sort-of classic font that gets used a lot. To be honest, I'm almost thinking more of the "Little Bastard" on James Dean's 550 and my text will appear in the same place as Dean's inscription, err, if the same place on a 911 can be considered the same place as a 550, that is to say, the back.

Needless to say, it's not going to be my name. I'm having a bit of fun with the car and the graphics. It's an unfolding project!

That looks good Juan!

A little pessimistic putting your blood type on your car after your name.

Pieter - I think the common font is called "Brush Script".

Here's an example:

I've already seen the Talledega Nights tribute:

I think it said "Shake 'n' Bake" on the hood.

An alternative method is to use the rear quarter window and a larger typeface. Good legibility.

I used 1 1/2" script and it was perfect. Try Rat Racing Graphics for a very good deal.

ErVikingo, i.e. Juan: did your dad used to race 20 years ago or so in the Caribbean, namely Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic?

Moses, You don't want to see my helmet with Allergy warnings and all.... You never know...

Gus, my dad only raced bikes, very succesfully ! (yes in Puerto Rico). One of my cousins did a lot of rallying through the Caribbean in Mini Coopers and Datsun Z's.

I'm from Puerto Rico and moved to Ft. Lauderdale approx 10 years ago.

Saludos, Juan

Thanks Motion! That font looks just right. I'll use that.

Thanks for the mockup too, although I won't be putting my name on the car. It's for something else on the car!

An aside: I'm having so much fun with this car. Obviously, driving it is the major thrill, but it's also almost like having a big blank canvas, or a blank page, and I get to do whatever I want with it, without fear of messing up a pristine, collectible, or new car. It's a race car, that happens to get driven to and from the track, and with that comes all kinds of levels of mischievous fun.

Jack, I've always liked that quarter window insignia--it always looks very rally to me--but since I'm not actually putting names on, I don't need that. It looks good on your car though!
