914 5 speed gearbox convert to 911

Hi all, have the opportunity to aquire a 73 914 gear box at a good price that I was considering using in my 2.4MFI powered karman ghia. That is assuming these boxes can be converted to use in rear engine set up as opposed to mid mount.

Understand that the Pinion would need to flipped over to drive in the correct position. But what about the nose cone and shifter??

The 914 box has a side shifter set up. Can you just swap the nose cone for a 911 type??
