Window lifter rail replacement
hello all,
Ever since i have had my car, the passenger window (Left side) has never been able to wind down. I pulled the door trim off to inspect what was going on and saw that the one half of the lifter rail had rusted away and crumbled to the bottom of the inside of the door. I was just browsing on the pelican site and saw that there are two types of window lifter rails available, Cross arm regulators and parallel arm regulators. Window Rail for Cross-Arm Regulator Cars, (drivers side) 911/912 Coupe (1965-89) 911-542-057-00-M100 Window Rail for Cross-Arm Regulator Cars, (passenger side) 911/912 Coupe (1965-89) 911-542-058-00-M100 Window Lifter Rail (driver side), for parallel arm regulators, 911 (1965-79) Coupe 901-542-045-23-OEM Window Lifter Rail (passenger side), for parallel arm regulators, 911 (1965-79) Coupe 901-542-046-23-OEM How do i tell what part i should be ordering? And given that my car is RHD, should i be ordering the drivers side (right) or passenger side(left)? Also is the replacement of this part an easy task or best left to an expert? Thank You

Can't help on Cross-arm or parallel, but I replaced mine and it wasn't too hard. There is a technical article on Pelican, I believe, about pulling the door panel. If your new to the Board, post a pic or two of your car.

I just replaced my passenger window regulator, so I've done some research.
The original parallel arm regulators are no longer available, and you must now order the cross-arm. In addition, you will need to order a new window channel too. This will also require some drilling to retrofit. There is a technical bulletin here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/images/John1/tech_bull7.jpg I searched and was able to find a dismantler with an original parallel arm regulator, so I was able to avoid the retrofit (and the additional expense). If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, it's a pretty simple replacement. Just takes some time and patience. Good luck, and post some pictures.
