993 calipers front soft line - Bill V?

Did some searching but I'm still missing some info. Hopefully Bill can shime in.

What's the best brake line setup for a car with coilovers, raised spindles and front sway bar? (the strut has been shaved, no brake line mounting tab) A soft line all the way or a combination of the two?

I found this picture from Bill and it looks like a nice way to eliminate the hard line at the caliper. Will running a soft line up to the caliper interfere with the sway bar? I really like the banjo setup because it'll make it easier to attach it to the 993 caliper eliminating a bend.

Is the line in the picture with a "threaded" banjo fitting or is the line specially made with the banjo fitting attached? The rubber mount is also a nice touch, where can I source both of these items - line with a banjo on one end and the rubber mount piece?

Here is what my setup looks like, sway bar is not mounted (still looking for one)

I could drill a hole in one of the gussets to mount the rubber sleeve for the brake line and route it where it's least obtrusive. Any suggestion is welcomed.

Those lines are supplied by Race Technology w/ their kits.

I would prefer a hardline to the strut and then use the flex lines from the strut to the chassis

Thanks Bill... that was quick

One more request if you don't mind - do you have a pic of a 993 setup with a hard line to the strut and soft to the chasis? I'm trying to picture the bend at the caliper.

Not a Big Red but you can see how the lines run, It doesn't have to follow this model, I think that these were stock 911 lines bent to fit the calipers.

Fernando,

I've run braided lines all the way to the caliper before, but a hard line is very nice to have between the caliper and the strut. I have also used hose clamps interlinked on the coil over struts with stock hard lines (email me for more info on this) and that worked actually very nice.

Someone just the other day turned me on to a recent model Mercedez bracket that clamps around the strut and holds a number of different lines and wires. It seemed like an inexpensive and quality solution. I will try to research more on this piece.

btw-Car looks good!

Clint,

Thanks for the compliment. Hope to have it on the road in the near future.

Yes, please post some more info on the mercedes bracket clamps. These should help to keep the lines fixed and out of the way. Thank you.
