What type of shocks/struts?

I have a 85 911 and need to upgrade the shocks. After looking on the Pelican page on suspension it says that your old shocks color will tell what type they are by the color.
The fronts are inside the strut, which is covered by dirt. The color on the strut appears to be black. The rears are easily visable and are black but with a band of orange tape on the bottom of both shocks.

Assume these are Boge??? Can I put Bilsteins in their place or what are my restrictions on this? I thought that you could put any type in a Boge strut assy but read on the elsewhere that Bilsteins will work only where they were OE.

Thx,

JA

If your strut tubes are black, than you have Boge struts, and yes you can install Bilstein inserts designed for Boge struts. I got mine for a great price from ASI www.shox.com
