I have a starting/ idle problem that seems to be a common problem for some. I have a 82 Sc that has given me problems starting on the first crank like it used to. Not to mention a poor idle to go along with it . Reading thru the threads they all seem to be the same but not exact. For some reason if I don't drive the car for a few days it will start immediately But, if I use it every day it takes a while to crank it over when cold. I have taken it in to a couple different shops to diagnose the problem but have come out hundreds of dollars down with no solution. Please help! Here are my findings.
Cold control pressure......1 bar warm " " ...............3.5 bars main Pressure..............4.7 bars Residual pressure............2 bars power to cold start valve reading is good. |

![]() When my car starts acting up like yours, I pull the spark plugs and give them a good cleaning. It works for me and it's cheap too!

Since evrything else turned out ok I thought the plugs or the wires may be the problem as you suggested. Replaced the plugs and same result.

It sounds like you have too much fuel pressure. If it fires up when cold just fine when fuel pressure isn't built up. When it's warm and fuel pressure is built up, your spraying to much fuel in. To prove this, when you have problems with it starting.. before it starts, pull a spark plug and it will probably be wet. If you know how to adjust your fuel mixture or were it takes a 3mm alanwrench and is located in between your fuel distributor and the air boot on your sensor flap assembly. If you turn it out ( counter clockwise) you will lean out your fuel mixture. This should help your problem, but still think that your running to much fuel pressure. Hope this helps

Thanks for the advise. Since I have some time this week I will check the fuel injectors while I'm in there. I'll let you know.
