any ideas where to buy this 915 part?

Its part # 91531803400

#31 in the photo.

The speedo drive gear for a 915 G box. It has a tongue that pokes out and connects to the cable on one end, the other end has a little gear on it. It looks like a $3 part. :-)

Pelican shows it from Porsche but its big bucks and may take forever.

Any body got a 915 in pieces they are willing to sell parts off of?

For some reason my new tranny did not come with one?

Thanks

It's an internal trans part and the likelyhood is dealer only. It's not something that has a high turnover rate, so I doubt anyone else would stock the part. You could try some of the specialty German transmission rebuilders that may have a busted unit that they may take out for you if you plead and beg long enough, but the good news it's a current part so you should be able to get it directly from a Porsche dealer in a day or two. I'm calling tomorrow for two relays that will double the cost of you gear, but you gotta do, what you gotta do. Good luck

hmm...the photo didn't come out. If it's internal, then not likely to find one.

I've had good luck getting used parts from EASY in Emeryville, and Oklahoma Foreign. Both parts shops have sold me *****ty parts on occasion though.

Try Carquip in Boulder, CO. 303/443-1343. They hooked me up with a 915 magnet ring earlier this year.

Partsheaven has dozens of 915s... maybe hundreds. Many are partly dismantled.

Eric, try this link:
http://dcauto.gotdns.com/catalog/index.php?pattern=91531803400&btnG=Search&mode=search&filter=sphinx

This is DC Automotive. They show the part in stock. Looks like iit would be worth a shot. 143 bucks isn't cheap but it may be
the going rate for that part.

Yah I called DC, they want to order it from Porsche new. I hate to pay that much, may have to though. I get it through Wayne for the same amount.

Waiting to hear back from Parts heaven, I am going to order a couple of other small things from them so I am hoping they are reasonable.

I wonder if a speedometer shop would have a few lying around?

They would have to recalibrate speedos somehow.

Back in the old days Gary Emory at Porsche Parts Obsolete would have stuff like this lying around and you could pick through old coffee cans of parts gems.

Thanks Guys

Parts Heaven came through. $45, I can stomach that.

I hope the gasket kist comes with a new circlip?

A new end cover would be awesome, no messing around with installation. I wonder how this will go.

Porsche Crest

I think the tranny seal kits all include the seal for the mechanical speedo. Mine don't have mechanicals, so my seals box has one or two of these little seals. At least that's what I suppose they are for.
