what does *yours* weigh?

Following on the "2690 is too much" thread, would people post their weight and major mods done (FG parts, gutting, etc). For the nascent 911spec thread I am trying to figure some realistic weights for 3.0/3.2 powered cars.

At last weigh-in, it was ~2960 lbs. Stock exhaust and CAT replaced with a Fabspeed dual outlet. Maybe saved myself 15 pounds.

I've removed a few parts from mine. A/C (60 lbs or so). Backdated exhaust. A few other things. I think I'm probably in the neighborhood of 2650. Yeah, that's too much. I've driven a car that's a couple of hundred ponds lighter, and it makes a BIG difference. Plus the stiffer suspension. Much more tossable. Much more predictable. (especially with refreshed suspension parts like spring plate bushings) Besides A/C, the biggies are bumpers and seats. My engine is out now, and the sound pad's gonna go. I don't really think it does anything. Maybe it limits my ability to hear that musical flat six. If a guy were serious about weight, it might just be the best to strip the car completely, sand and paint, and then reassemble using only those parts that are necessary to take the car around a track once. FG parts are *****. Somebody is gonna bump them while trying to park near your car, and then they're toast. But hey, if your goal is 2000 lbs, then FG will be necessary.

2,633 pounds on the corner balance scales at Hergesheimer with 1/2 tank of gas, about 10 gallons, so about 2,570 pounds empty. RS door panels. AC delete. No toolkit. Manual seats. Smaller battery than the giant stock Carrera version. No engine bay soundproofing. Washer bottle empty. As far as I can tell, everything else is still there.

2280 with an 1/8 tank of gas. Interior has been hollowed of everything non-essential to driving: stereo, speakers, rear seats, parcel shelf, soundproofing. Stock seats have been replaced with lighter weight seats. Engine soundproofing has also been removed. In the trunk area, no spare, no tools, and a lightweight battery in the smuggler's box. Except for the ducktail, there is no fiberglass on my car. If I had a simple harness bar instead of the Autopower roll bar in my car, the weight would be 2230. But the Autopower is both bolted and welded in to give additional rigidity. I'm slowly learning the more I lighten my car, less needed are engine mods as well as many suspension mods. Couple a lightened SC with a 7.31 r/p and you'll have a rocket. I've driven many 911s more powerful than mine with harder suspensions, yet in most situations, none feel that much faster or feel they handle that much better.

Two other things: 1) get rid of the washer bottle - that should be about ten pounds, and 2) the stock steering wheel is supposedly very heavy.

My '76 (when it still had it's 2.7) weighed 2310 lbs. This is with fiberglass F/R bumpers, fiberglass tail rear seats removed and an Autopower roll bar (among other things). I'm thinking the 3.2 has added about 100lbs, but I've also swapped the factory seats (31lbs each) out for Sparcos (13 lbs each) so the car is probably about 2375 now. Mike

Well you know mine is a fat pig. 2630lbs = 1192kg To lose weight I have done the following: - no A/C - no washer bottle - no spare - no tool kit - Recaro racing shells - RS door panels - F/G bumpers - no carpets - no soundproofing Still to be done - Odissey battery - remove rear seats - remove soundproofing behind rear seats Items that have added weight - 2 275/40-17 front tires - 2 315/35-17 rear tires - big brakes kit - 72 row front oil cooler + lines - triangulated strut bar - harness truss - 6-point harness - fire estinguishing system I think the wheel/tires are worth ~100lbs over stock and the brakes ~40lbs. Without the rear seats and the battery I should be in the 2580 region. That's 300lbs heavier than Rdane's effort. Half of that is in the brakes/wheels. The car should put down around 262-5 rwhp which would give roughly a 9.7-9.8 lb/hp power to weight ratio.

Love that gas pedal, len911. Thin plywood might save a few ounces over the 2x4. Anyway, my '72 T non-sunroof coupe is dead nuts on 2300 with half a tank of gas. Fiberglass front bumper, no rear seats, no spare or jack, Corbeau Classic II driver and passenger seats, larger SC gas tank, no air, pretty complete tool kit and spares, stock 2.4 with iron cylinders, Momo wheel, one-piece 15x7 BBS's with Yokohama ES100's 215/60-15's, and a PLYWOOD gas pedal spacer, with a rubber VW pedal over the top to add some class.
