2-wire temp sensor?
Anyone know where to get a 2-wire (ie. not grounded through the engine case) oil temp sensor? The one that is installed under the fan housing near the pressure sensor. I am getting a lot of "noise" on the signal from the alternator and am trying to get a clean signal.

Are you talking about a jumping or pulsating needle, dropouts in data, or noise spikes in with the temp data??? The wire to the temp sender has been known to fracture under the insulation within a few inches of the sender, leading to intermittent connection for a while, then an open wire and no data! If it is truly noise on the signal lead, a coax cable should take care of the problem ... IMHO, RG-174 or RG-188 should take care of the problem!

Thanks Warren and Glenn,
All the wiring in the car is new, did it myself so I believe it is done right. I have an externally-regulated alternator and its grounded, as is the engine in several places. I don't know it its spikes or what...I'll check the logfile. My EFI brain is showing the temp fluctuating by ~10 degrees C and sometimes goes blank. The EFI tuner said he's seen this before and he says its possibly due to the different current put out by the alternator and that a 2-wire sensor has cured it in the past... I coundn't find the part so I tapped the sensor and metallic-cemented a wire into that, will see later if that helps...won't isolate the ground fully but will get a direct ground to the EFI ground. Maybe that'll help.
