Intermittent dieing - SOLVED!!! DME

For the last couple weeks I have experienced an intermittent dieing when driving. Happened mostly when warming up, but sometimes also when warm.

It was time for a tune-up, so I brought it in and asked to diagnose the problem. And no, it wasn't the DME relay, I checked!

Upon looking at the car, my wrench told me that the Head Temp Sensor was the old one wire sensor and that it was known to cause such problems and that an updated two wire sensor was recommended. Replaced sensor and still had the intermittent dieing.

He then started the car and went to the DME and began tapping on it. The car died. He did this a few more times with the same result so he opened up the DME and found some corrosion between solders. He cleaned up the DME and put it back. BINGO, problem solved. Hasn't missed a beat yet!!!

So if anyone with a Carrera is experiencing similar problems, think of checking the DME for corrosion.
