911 Flapper Boxes...
What is the best and cheapest place to buy two new heater control boxes(flapper boxes) for a 1973 911T? I did a little research and found TWEEKS to be the best that I could find so far at around $69 each. I pulled the right flapper box yesterday with no problem. I soaked the left box with wd40 while I was under the car and was able to get 2 of the 3 bolts off. The last bolt, which was very hard to get to, seemed to be stuck. Not sure about the boxes Bill, but what are you replacing the flexible pipes with? The porsche ones here are hideously overpriced- for what they are anyway. I guess they need to withstand heat, but why so special?

I bought mine from Parts Heaven in Hayward, CA. They were used but looked brand new for a 83SC. 1-800-767-7250

Matt, are these the same flexible air ducts that run from the engine fan to the heat exchangers? If so I managed to replace mine with hoses I picked up from Repco (i'm sure they're in NZ) for literally a fraction of the cost of originals.
Hope this helps. Regards, ------------------ Paul 911T'69 |

Matt, I got my new flapper boxes, along with new heater hoses the other day from Tweeks. I got the Loprene hoses to replace the originals. I also got two new gaskets from Stoddard. These gaskets were a little odd looking, but made very well. They are not made of cork, but rather look like a combination of rubber and plastic. They are very pliable, and they look like they will last a long time. I plan to undercoat the area that the boxes sit prior to installation of the new boxes. I'll keep you updated.
