What would YOU do?
OK...got the Turbo running.....
So what would YOU do? Keep the Turbo or the Cabriolet? 1979 Turbo...stock, 3.3 intercooled 275hp and 50K original miles 1983 Cabriolet, 3.6 N/A, WEVO shifter, 22/28 t-bars, chipped 280hp, rebuilt 915, backdated to 73 longhood RS body style, new top....80K original miles.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1168305661.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1168305665.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1168305679.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1168305685.jpg |

Vote for the Turbo. Its a badasss.
The Cab looks a little garish and Frankensteinish, imo. no offense intended... SmileWavy Sure its a great car. Turbo looks great and has great potential for something special. |
Buy a complete set of tools. . .
Once you get the WEVO shifter and the T-bars transplanted into the turbo I think the answer will become clear to you. :D |
Does WEVO make a 930 4 speed shifter?
|
turbo
|
Oh, forgot to mention...
I thought cabs were supposed to be girlie cars... .... (Duck, here it comes...) http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat5.gif |
Backdate the turbo and sell the cab as mostly stock.
|
Keep the turbo, sell the cab, and use all that money to build a bad machine.
Wevo do make a 930 shifter. |
TURBO!!!!!!!!!
|
If it were me?
I'd keep the one that has more power, a drop top, and seems more sorted already. The other one is running, but after sitting for a decade+ is going to need a lot more to get it sorted. Suspension bushings, shocks, etc. Plus it has really ugly wheels. The Turbo will also be easier to sell. The white car will be harder to sell for what it's worth because Frankensteins are harder to sell. So I'd keep the white one, and I'd also put aside an afternoon to "de-festoon" it from every single one of those stickers/badges/doodads that it has been afflicted with. And paint the low hanging exhaust flat black so it's not so noticeable. But that's just me. |
turbo turbo turbo!
never been a fan of cabs. no matter how much back dating you have going on and whatever parts. cabs are icky. |

Yes we do. It is different than the 915, since the internal 930 mechanisms are different. The pivot box in the shifter is dimensionally quite different, and there is no need for the reverse lock-out. |
BTW, I vote for the Turbo.
Just keep it as stock as possible, except for some HP upgrades, and some suspension work. |
Turbo!
|
Your Cab is one of a kind, but.......imagine the turbo with a few tricks (backdated, suspension, and 400 EASY HP!!). I REALLY like the idea
of a backdated turbo. And we know you can get an intercooler under the duck. Go for it, Mike. |
OK....so the masses have pretty much spoken.....
What does a 1 bar spring, free flow exhaust and an upgraded turbo gonna set me back....? Anyone wanna buy a hotrod cab???? |
Keep the turbo, don't molest it but loose the black wheels. Just my opinion. Boost is gud.
|
You owe it to your car to do headers, K-27HFS, and a Fabspeed or similar exhaust. Probably 4-5K. I've seen that stuff go on rennlist or here way way cheaper than that.

It's 80 in smel LA today keep the Cab and buy sunscreen
