Dash replacement options

Has anyone had experience with installing a salvage yard dash? Is there any way to tell if it will last anytime at all before it too cracks?
Vinyl seems less likely to shrink and cause problem - correct?

I am trying to evaluate options for replacing a dash (black) on a 1980 911SC. From what I can determine on these boards I have these options (listed in estimated cost, decreasing)

New dash (est. $1300)
Recover dash ( Justdashes - quoted $900 plus waiting time for turn around)
Used dash from salvage yard (est. $500 DCAuto)
ebay sellers ($??)

Any other options?
Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks

or buy the ABS plastic dash cover. I had saw one installed and looks great. It fits nicely. I think that could cost around $100.

I removed the dash from my SC and dropped it off at a local auto upholstery shop. It has held up for almost 10 and still looks great. It cost a weekend of work to remove and $125.00 to recover.
There has probably been a price increase due to the passage of time, but it can’t be on the order of your list of options.
Investigate an estimate in your local area.

My upholsterer repaired the rust on the frame and recovered it in black leather for ALOT less than a new dash.
