How to decode an engine #

Is there an engine decoder like the chassis vin decoders? I need to find out what engine this serial is - 6211526.

Mark, buy a copy of PCA's "The Porsche Family Tree"...it contains this numbers stuff. Cheap little booklet, full of info.

There's another number...fainter that reads, 911/XX or 930/XX,,,,near the same location.

Thanks guys. Needed to make sure it's the right motor for the chassis. May be a new addition to the family soon.
