Wow, none of these Iris Blue cars look like the same color that they put on the 993 and called Iris blue, which is a deep almost-purple blue.

It probably looked very dated in the 80s and 90s

This is Aubergine, a factor color. Didn't like it at first but it grew on me before I could repaint it.

Looks like the car went through a number of changes; wheels, valence/fogs right side mirror, H5 headlight etc.. too bad, was a beautiful car with that blue. Good luck bring her back.

I doubt-it.. truly rare colors stand-up very well over time.. especially in a sea of red, blk, whit, and silver.. and this was a color very close to gulf blue.

Really? Tell that to the legions of people who hate doggy doo browns. They are universally hated and dated... And rare

I actually think that the powder blue of that car looks silly and much prefer the black. :)

Thing is.. we weren't talking about Sepia Brown. SmileWavy And even that color, when nicely done.. well.

Stool Sample Brown was some factory Porsche guy's sick joke! I bet the guy who came up with it thought, "Can you believe that some people actually want to put the contents of their toilets on their cars?!?!"!

sugarwood 02-01-2017 10:31 AM

They may have said the same thing about Toddler Room blue! Hence, the black paint

Coffee Brown

OK, 15 pages of colors and no Coffee Brown! Must be the rarest factory color around (or one of the worst). I have only seen pictures of one 911 and one 912, and seen a 356 in person. My '69S came from the factory Coffee Brown but was painted TWICE before I bought it in '74, first time Black, next time what you see below. Kind of a metallic Brown. It has been sitting in my garage, pretty much the same as you see it below, since 1975. Some day I will send it out and return it to it's glorious factory color. At least I will be assured that when people see it, it will be the only time they will have seen an early 911 that color.

Another mid-years’ Brown: Togo Brown

This was a Paint to Sample color for the 911 in 1977, color code 413. I believe it previously appeared on 356s in the early ‘60s and was code 6411 at that time. Probably not a common color. As for most common, I would guess silver; which was the color I wanted when I bought this car in 1995. The Brown has grown on me and now I wouldn’t dream of changing it.

My son also has a Mocha Brown original color 1978 911 SC -- but now a race car with some UPS logos - as it looks kinda like the trucks, eh? Paint Code is 451-9-2

You must have been busy for the last 43 years.

Probably cost you $1,800 and now it's worth 1.5 squillion as it sits.

Sweet.
