Most/Least Common Color 911?
Also were 911s available(special order) in other Porsche models colors?
|
i have special order dolphin gray on my 66. i'am willing to bet the most common color is white.
|
I was thinking silver to be the most common.
|
If I had to guess red, silver and white would be the toss up for most common.
My 67 is slate gray and I have only seen one other that color in my whole life. |
Larry you mean one other 67' Slate Grey right?

Just a guess here...based on the number of years each color was issued? I'd guess silver first, then white, then red. I stress, this is a guess....
|
Wouldn't the rarest color be on the year the least 911s were made?
|
WOW that is a gorgeous mid year. I have never seen one in slate gray.
|
my 67 looks different though I think the mid year looks like a dark metallic color where in 67 it had some green in it:

Sorry larry but now you won't feel as lonley. ;)
Great seats by the way! |
Oops wrong picture :(
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1169352196.jpg I think that slate gray was a lot more common in the 356 era though. |
Larry, beautiful car. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of seats are those? They look period correct and very supportive. I'm trying to find replacements for the failed BMW sport seat experiment in my '72.
Thanks, Jim |
Sepia is not real common.

I am glad you like them. |
Thanks Larry, that's what I thought. The price seems reasonable, and the sale of my BMW sport seats + original Porsche seats should just about cover it. :D

What about the nice seventhies color: gold metallic...?;)
You love it or you hate it! I hated it, but starting to love it as I will repaint my car in this same color at the end of it's restoration. |

ICE GREEN
My '77 911s Targa is Ice Green.
Any one else with this combo? The interior (factory) is Matching green and black Sam |
I don't know what color this is that I have and have never seen another like it. Do you guys think it was ever a stock color? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1169405420.jpg

Have not seen many in Petrol Blue. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1169405700.jpg
|
That Petrol is a great color.
|
I know of a one-off, special request by the original owner for Porsche to use GM paint so his 911 would match his Caddilac. The car's a gem. Owned by a fellow on the Early 911S registry site.
But then come to think of it, I've only seen one car in Rose Red = Pink. |
Yes guards red and india red are the same color

It's impossible to answer your question, because there are a bunch of paint-to-sample cars out there that are one-of-a-kind.
|
Sam,
My '77 Targa is also Ice Green Metallic. I've only seen one other in my neck of the woods. Tom |
|
If we are talking factory colors not paint to sample then Kiln Red is pretty rare. '83 and '84 only as I recall.

My 83 is Quartz Gray I believe it was only available in 83.
|
Another vote for Ice Green Metallic.
I had mine repainted by the paint code on the door (260?) as I recall.... Have only seen 2 others this color in Colorado. Craig |
Factory Color, but fairly rare? Marble Grey...
